Semolina Savory (Upma)

Ingredients #

  • Semolina (Rava) ½ cup
  • Washed Moong Dal ¼ cup(Green gram split without skin)
  • Curry Leaves 10-12
  • Cashew 8-10
  • Asafetida 2 pinch
  • Green chili chopped 1-2 ( optional)
  • Ginger 1 inch chopped
  • Oil or ghee 2 tbsp.
  • Mustard seeds 1tsp.
  • Cumin seeds ¼ tsp.
  • 3 cups hot water

Method #

  1. Place a kadhai / wok on gas and turn on the flame medium heat.
  2. Add oil or ghee, add mustard seeds.
  3. When mustard seeds start to crake adds cumin seeds, asafetida, curry leaves and Moong Dal.
  4. Sauté until Dal turned golden brown. About 3-5 minute.
  5. Add Cashew and Semolina. Roast until turned light brown.
  6. Add hot water, salt and stir.
  7. It’s going to thick. If your upma is thick than add little more water and adjust your desire consistency.
  8. Turn off the gas and garnish with cilantro or coconut flakes or pomegranate seeds.

It is very healthy and very delicious.
