Cottage Cheese (Paneer) Burger

Cottage cheese (Paneer) is a much loved dish in India and in my house too. So every week making different dish from Paneer. This Cottage cheese veggie burger is every bit as flavor-filled and delicious as traditional burger.


  • Paneer (Cottage Cheese) 200gms
  • Onion 1 medium
  • Ginger 1 inch chopped
  • Shallots 2-3 string washed and chopped
  • Crushed black pepper 1 teaspoon
  • 1/4 tsp. roasted cumin seeds
  • Asafetida ¼ teaspoon
  • Butter 2 Tbsp. (Approximate)
  • Green Chili 1 chopped(optional)
  • Burger Buns 4
  • Fresh coriander strings 6-8 washed and chopped
  • Brown sugar 1 teaspoon
  • Potatoes boiled peeled and grated 1 medium
  • Breadcrumbs ¼ cup
  • Olive oil 1 teaspoon
  • juice from ½ lemon
  • salt to taste   


  1. Heat 1 tbsp. of butter or oil in a pan. Add chopped onion in the pan.
  2. Add crushed black pepper and salt and let the onion little caramelize.
  3. Add chopped green chili, asafetida, cumin seeds, chopped coriander, and chopped shallots.
  4. Add grated potato, grated Paneer (cottage cheese), breadcrumbs, brown sugar and mix well. Sauté for 3-5 minutes. Turn off the stove and let it cool the mixture.
  5. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into patties.
  6. Heat 1 tsp. butter or oil in a pan. Place patties in it and shallow-fry till golden brown from both sides.
  7. Cut the burger bun into halves horizontally and toast them. Cut 1 tomato into thin slices.
  8. Spread a tablespoon of mayonnaise or tomato ketchup or both or chutney as per your choice on toasted bun.
  9. Place 4-5 lettuce leaves or spinach leaves on the base half and put 2-4 tomato slices on top. If you like you can also place some black olives or burger pickle.
  10. Now your burger is ready.
